Understanding the moderation workflow
Learn how marks move from teacher submission through moderation to final approval before appearing in reports.
Moderation is the review step between teacher mark submission and report generation. It ensures data accuracy and provides an audit trail.
Workflow stages
- Draft — teacher is still entering marks
- Submitted — teacher has submitted; entry is locked for editing
- Pending Moderation — Academic Officer reviews the submission
- Approved — marks accepted; flow into grade calculation and reports
- Rejected — returned to teacher with notes for correction
What moderators check
- Marks within valid range for each test type
- No unexpected outliers (unusually high or low class averages)
- All enrolled students have marks
Requesting moderation as a teacher
After submitting marks, teachers can request moderation from the Results screen. This notifies the Academic Officer to review.
Only Academic Officers and School Admins can approve or reject moderation requests. Teachers cannot countersign their own submissions.
